House Energy and Commerce Committee approves six new energy energy bills
The House Energy and Commerce Committee on Tuesday passed a series of six energy-related bills to help stimulate growth in the industry and create jobs.
The first of the bills, entitled the Energy Efficient Government Technology Act, would require energy efficient and energy saving technologies in federal data centers, which would help save taxpayer money while improving energy efficiency.
A second bill, H.R. 2080, would extend the deadline for commencement of construction of a hydroelectric project involving the Clark Canyon Dam.
The Fair RATES Act, H.R. 2984, would amend the Federal Power Act to provide opportunities for rehearing of orders affecting rates, even in instances where rates become effective by operation of law.
H.R. 4411 would extend the deadline for commencement of construction of a hydroelectric project involving the Gathright Dam.
H.R. 4412 would extend the deadline for commencement of construction of a hydroelectric project involving the Flannagan Dam, while also extending the licenses of both the Flannagan and Gathright Dams.
The final bill, H.R. 4427, would amend section 203 of the Federal Power Act to expressly include a minimum monetary threshold of $10 million for mergers and acquisition of facilities subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
