Chairman David W. Danner was named chair of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ (NARUC) Committee on International Relations last week.

“The international utility regulatory community is increasingly interconnected, as we seek concrete responses to common challenges and opportunities,” NARUC President Travis Kavulla said. “Chairman Danner’s leadership will help ensure that the Committee on International Relations continues to facilitate meaningful dialogues on innovative regulatory approaches and lead peer-to-peer regulatory programs worldwide. We are grateful for our partnerships with the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Department of State, which help create these important opportunities. I would also like to thank Immediate Past Chair Anne Hoskins for her excellent service to the Committee.”

Danner will fill the role recently vacated by Commissioner Anne Hoskins, joining Co-Vice Chairs Kenneth C. Hill and Murray E. Doehler in leading NARUC’s outreach activities across the globe. Danner will also be appointed to NARUC’s board of directors.

“I have actively participated on the International Committee and in NARUC’s international programs, and I see firsthand the value they provide,” Danner said. “I look forward to working with the Committee and NARUC leadership so that the global regulatory community can continue to share ideas, compare best practices and promote understanding and collaboration.”

Danner joins the Committee on International Relations with experience on the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, as well as service on NARUC’s Committee on Energy Resources and the Environment.
