Pierce Norton, chair of the board for the American Gas Association (AGA) in 2017, recently discussed his top priorities for supporting the growth of the natural gas industry.
Norton also is president and CEO of ONE Gas Inc., which serves two million customers throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.
In his new role, Norton will lead the board of the American Gas Association, representing more than 200 local energy companies that deliver natural gas throughout the United States.
Natural gas is a foundation fuel for the U.S. energy economy, he said.
“Natural gas utilities are moving forward – delivering value to our customers with an energy product that is abundant, efficient, affordable and clean, while advancing the safety of this critical infrastructure,” Norton said during a recent roundtable discussion at AGA headquarters.
“There are 177 million people in this country who enjoy the comfort and affordability of natural gas – more than ever before, and the numbers continue to increase. We are working to improve their experience with our product and extend those benefits to many more Americans,” he added.
Norton’s priorities also include focusing on safety, modernization and upgrading the nation’s natural gas system infrastructure. In addition, he stressed the important role natural gas plays in a low carbon future for the United States.
