Consumers Energy turns to public input amidst integrated resource plan

While building up an energy plan for the next 15 years, Consumers Energy has turned to the community for input, arranging public sessions in several cities this month.

Their latest integrated resource will essentially be the company’s guide for actions taken over the next 15 years, focusing on affordable, reliable and clean energy. Consumers, which serves approximately two-thirds of Michigan’s residents through electricity or natural gas delivery, intends to submit a finished plan to the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) by mid-year. The MPSC will then have about a year to review the plan.

“This process will help set the foundation for serving Michigan, its customers and guiding key decisions for our company in the coming years,” Brandon Hofmeister, Consumers Energy’s senior vice president of governmental, regulatory and public affairs, said. “We’re committed to aligning our focus on people, planet, and prosperity with this future energy plan. Our goal is a strategic vision that makes sense for our company, our customers, and Michigan.”

Public sessions for the month will take place in East Lansing and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
