Nuclear Regulatory Commission selects new inspector general at LaSalle Nuclear Power Plant
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) recently named Josh Havertape the new resident inspector at the LaSalle nuclear power plant in Marseilles, Illinois, which is owned by Exelon Generation Co., LLC.
“Josh Havertape is a knowledgeable inspector who is dedicated to the NRC’s important safety mission. His experience, training, and education will help ensure LaSalle meets the high regulatory standards set by the NRC,” NRC Region III Administrator K. Steven West said.
Havertape began at the NRC as a student engineer in 2013 and worked for the agency in 2015 as part of the Region III Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program.
Before joining the agency, he served six years in the U.S. Navy submarine force, including four years on the USS Greeneville as a nuclear propulsion plant operator. He also worked as an NRC-licensed research and test reactor operator at the University of Wisconsin, and in the private sector as an inspector of large components in power generation facilities.
Havertape earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering and engineering physics from the University of Wisconsin.
