The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) recently promoted former Assistant General Counsel Jennifer M. Murphy to the position of director of its newly created Department of Energy Policy.

“Promoting Jennifer Murphy to the new position of Director of Energy Policy was an easy decision,” NARUC Executive Director Greg R. White said. “During her time as NARUC’s Assistant General Counsel, Jennifer demonstrated an excellent understanding of energy and utility law and the associated issues facing our members. Her appointment will help us better focus our resources on policy matters along the lines of the various industries regulated by the state commissions.”

As the Director of Energy Policy and Senior Counsel, Murphy will serve as the main point of contact for energy matters for NARUC and will coordinate energy matters within the association.

Murphy will continue to lead NARUC’s legal relations on energy matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Department of Energy, the federal courts and elsewhere, as necessary. She will also continue to aid in the development and implementation of NARUC’s Washington Action Program and will primarily serve the NARUC’s committees on consumer affairs, electricity, energy resources and the environment, and gas.
