A partnership between Georgia Power and PulteGroup will bring the first “Smart Neighborhood” of luxury townhomes that are outfitted with the latest renewable energy technologies to Atlanta, Georgia Power announced on Friday.

The homes will use rooftop solar panels and in-home batteries to for a portion of energy usage, and Georgia Power will provide supplemental power. Additionally, the homes use the latest energy efficiency technologies, including optimal insulation, advanced heating, and cooling systems, LED lighting, smart thermostats and home automation, and smart locks controlled by voice.

“Building the future of energy in Georgia centers on our continued commitment to offer new, flexible products and services that meet the changing needs of our customers,” Paul Bowers, chairman, president and CEO of Georgia Power, said. “This partnership with PulteGroup provides a unique opportunity for us to demonstrate how energy companies can collaborate with homebuilders and retail partners to better serve customers today while developing new opportunities for tomorrow.”

The Georgia Power Smart Neighborhood will be located on Atlanta’s northwest side. The development, called Atlus at the Quarter, will feature 46 townhomes that are more than 2,349 square feet, have three or four bedrooms and two-car garages.
