Customers participating in Pacific Power’s Blue Sky program will invest $1.1 million in new renewable energy projects this year, Pacific Power recently announced.

The projects include several solar projects and one low-impact hydro project for community organizations in 10 communities across the Northwest with a total capacity of more than 675 kilowatts.

Pacific Power customers can choose to participate in the Blue Sky renewable energy program and help fund renewable energy projects in Northwest communities.

“Our Blue Sky customers put their dollars to work in their communities,” Cory Scott, Pacific Power’s director of customer solutions, said. “Not only will these facilities supply renewable energy, but they are helping increase the visibility and adoption of renewable technology. We are proud to be part of this important partnership with communities and our Blue Sky customers.”

Since 2006, Blue Sky customers have invested more than $10 million in renewable energy and helped enable the installation of 101 community-based projects with a total capacity of approximately 8.8 megawatts.

“Blue Sky customers choose to support renewable energy above and beyond Pacific Power’s own growing renewable portfolio and projects like these provide customers with tangible connections to the program,” Project Manager Berit Kling said. “In addition to greening their energy use by supporting newly developed renewable energy generation Blue Sky customers are helping fund new on-the-ground, renewable projects in their own communities that strongly contribute to the local economy.”
