The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) unanimously elected Commissioner Lauren “Bubba” McDonald this week as PSC chair for a two-year term, effective Wednesday.

McDonald succeeds Commissioner Stan Wise who resigned from the Commission effective Feb. 20, 2018.

“I am honored that my colleagues have entrusted me with this leadership position,” McDonald said. “I look forward to chairing this Commission as we continue to deal with the construction of two new nuclear power plants, placing more renewable energy in Georgia’s portfolio and ensuring that consumers of Georgia have just and reasonable rates.”

McDonald is currently in his third term on the Commission. He was appointed to the Commision and then elected in 1998 and re-elected in 2008 and 2014. McDonald previously served 20 years as a state Representative and chaired the Industry Committee for five years and the Appropriations Committee for eight years.
