New Jersey SmartStart Buildings Program receives its 50,000th application
The New Jersey State Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) recently announced that New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program’s (NJCEP) NJ SmartStart Buildings Program received its 50,000th application since it began in 2007.
The program provides support to help customers purchase energy-efficient equipment and is designed to improve the quality of energy performance, reduce demand on the electric power grid and decrease energy costs and usage.
“This is a significant milestone for the SmartStart Program,” NJBPU President Joseph L. Fiordaliso said. “The SmartStart Program has brought real energy and cost savings to New Jersey businesses and government entities and will continue to complement Governor Murphy’s agenda.”
As of Jan. 31, the SmartStart Program has paid or committed over $36 million in incentives
for fiscal year 2018.
Commercial, industrial, institutional, government and agricultural projects can take advantage of the SmartStart program to help obtain energy efficient equipment such as lighting and controls, heating and cooling, motors, refrigeration and food service equipment in both new construction and existing buildings.
