As of 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 4, crews have restored power to approximately 137,000 of the 191,000 PPL Electric Utilities customers in Pennsylvania impacted by Friday’s Winter Storm Riley.
The eastern part of PPL’s service area was the most severely impacted and contains the majority of the remaining outages. Counties with the most remaining outages include Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Monroe, Pike, and Wayne, Pennsylvania.
“We’re working around the clock and are making good progress,” Stephanie Raymond, vice president of distribution operations, said. “We know it’s not easy being without power. Our customers should know we are bringing in all available resources to restore their service.”
PPL recalled 25 linemen now doing storm restoration work in Puerto Rico to help restore power in Pennsylvania.
Hundreds of additional line workers and tree crews are assisting PPL with the restoration work, including approximately 100 contractors provided through PPL’s sister utilities Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities are also assisting with the efforts.
This storm will rank among the 10 worst to affect PPL customers.
