Eversource along with out-of-state utility crews are working practically non-stop towards restoring all power in Massachusetts, particularly the South Shore region, which got dumped with close to two feet of snow Monday night into Tuesday.

The nor’easter, called Skylar, was the third storm to hit Massachusetts in the month of March, leaving energy providers scrambling to restore power outages to thousands of customers, particularly in the coastal areas of Massachusetts.

The army of line and tree crews have restored power to more than 400,000 customers since the storm began. Eversource – which provides energy to 1.7 million customers throughout Massachusetts — expected to have power restored for all South Shore customers restored by 11 p.m. on Thursday. Further, it was on track to have the vast majority of remaining homes and businesses on Cape Cod back on line by 11 p.m. Friday.

“We recognize how disruptive power outages are to our customers’ lives and we greatly appreciate their patience this week as we rebuild and repair the electric system again,” Eversource Vice President of Electric Field Operations Doug Foley said. “Our crews are doing a tremendous job, working extended shifts around-the-clock since this relentless cycle of winter weather first began on March 2. Many of the men and women working on this restoration lost power at their own homes but they are committed to working until every last customer is restored.”

Eversource reminds customers to be cautious during storm clean up. When moving or cutting tree limbs, Eversource reminds individuals to look for any wires that may be entangled in debris. The company says customers should stay clear of any downed power lines and immediately report it to 9-1-1.
