The Utility Division of the Arizona Corporation Commission recently announced the completion of a major restructuring of its 60-person team in order to boost efficiency, accountability and quality of service provided to consumers and the utilities.

The reorganization resulted in the creation of six departments within the Utilities Division, including Administration, Consumer Services, the Director’s Office, Engineering, Policy and Programs, and Revenue and Audits.

“I want to congratulate Utility Division Director Tom Broderick and his staff for their proactive work on this long overdue re-organization,” Arizona Corporation Commission Chairman Doug Little said. “This is a great example of the ‘behind the scenes type work’ which takes place at the Commission that is focused on serving the public.”

All major cases handled by the Utilities Division now receive a Deputy Director Sponsor assigned specifically to the case, in order to increase accountability. The restructuring also assigned a number of employees to new departments in a move that targets greater responsiveness to both internal and external customers.

The Utility Division serves as an operations monitor for 685 companies across the state, providing financial analysis for utilities’ business transactions, conducting hearings for public comments, facilitating conflict mediation, and reviewing financial records in order to make recommendations to commissioners.
