Hundreds of leaders from the public and private sectors alike gathered from across the world in Copenhagen this week to discuss trends, innovations, and policies related to energy efficiency as part of the 11th Annual Energy Efficiency Global Forum.

“Countries across the world have diverse energy systems, yet all share the enormous potential of harnessing energy efficiency to reduce costs while protecting the climate,” Jason Hartke, Alliance to Save Energy president, said. “At EE Global we bring together energy efficiency leaders from dozens of countries because we have a lot to learn from each other to use energy more wisely.”

Organized by the Alliance to Save Energy and the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, the summit consists of awards as well as time with speakers. The theme of EE Global this year was Energy Efficiency: Innovation, Investment, Impact. Speakers include Santiago Creuheras Díaz, Director General of the Mexican Energy Ministry’s Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Effort; Dr. Bertrand Piccard, Chairman and Initiator of the Solar Impulse Foundation; and Bert Van Hoof, Group Program Manager at Microsoft.

The forum also honored Piccard with its annual Visionary Award, for recognition of his contributions to the advancement of energy efficiency through the launching of the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions.

The forum is supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is being held as part of Nordic Clean Energy Week, immediately before the annual Clean Energy Ministerial.
