After spending more than 30 years with Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), Gary Guin was named the company’s director of distribution risk and project management on Thursday.

Guin joined SWEPCO in 1986 as pumpman at the Arsenal Hill Power Plant in Shreveport, Louisiana. Throughout his career, Guin has served in dispatch for transmission and distribution, as a bulk power energy trader, and he led SWEPCO’s “Lean” initiative to identify and undertake improvements to company-wide processes.

Most recently, Guin served as region support manager and was tasked with implementing the incident command system tool for large- and small-scale technologies. In his new role as director of distribution risk and project management, Guin will oversee distribution engineering, project management, and reliability and risk.

A division of American Electric Power (AEP), SWEPCO is headquartered in Shreveport and serves 532,000 customers in western Arkansas, northwest and central Louisiana, northeast Texas and the Texas Panhandle.
