The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) named Lynn Good, president and CEO of Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke Energy as its chairman of the board for the 2018-2019 term.

An organization representing all U.S. investor-owned electric companies, EEI also named Chris Crane, president and CEO of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation, and Ben Fowke, chairman, president and CEO of Minneapolis-based Xcel Energy, as vice chairmen for the upcoming term.

Good replaces Pat Vincent-Collawn, chairman, president and CEO of Albuquerque, N.M.-based PNM Resources, who served as EEI chair this past year.

EEI President Tom Kuhn announced the leadership changes at EEI’s annual convention in San Diego this week.

“Lynn has been an invaluable member of the EEI leadership team while serving as vice chairman, and we look forward to her continued leadership as we work to deliver on our commitment to meeting our customers’ needs by building and using smarter energy infrastructure, by providing even cleaner energy, and by creating the energy solutions customers want and expect,” Kuhn said.

Before becoming CEO of Duke Energy in 2013, Good served as Duke’s CFO and led the company’s commercial energy business when it was launching renewable energy projects. She began her career in the industry with Cinergy in 2003 before it was acquired by by Duke Energy in 2006. Before that she was a partner at two international accounting firms, including Arthur Anderson. Good also serves on the board of directors of Boeing and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO). She is also a member of the Business Roundtable. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Miami University of Ohio.

“Today’s environment provides an incredible opportunity for our industry to innovate,” Good said. “As EEI chairman, I look forward to collaborating with leaders, policymakers and other stakeholders to meet the changing needs of our customers and deliver the experience they expect from their energy provider.”

Kuhn also praised the two new vice chairmen.

“Chris (Crane) is a tremendous leader for our industry, and we are fortunate to have him continue serving as vice chairman,” Kuhn said. “We are also excited for Ben (Fowke) to join EEI’s leadership team, and we look forward to drawing upon his wealth of industry experience.”

He also cited the achievements of outgoing chair Vincent-Collawn.

“During her chairmanship, Pat has worked tirelessly to advance EEI’s policy goals, while also bringing our industry’s commitment to diversity and inclusion into the spotlight,” Kuhn said. “Pat also is a thought leader on how electric companies can best work with customers and policymakers to develop the smart communities of the future, and, thanks to Pat’s efforts, more electric companies are now engaging with their communities about ‘smart initiatives.’”
