Alliance to Save Energy names Tempchin as senior fellow

Rick Tempchin, executive director for customer solutions at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), will be joining the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE) as a senior fellow as part of a new fellowship program.

The fellowship program is aimed at boosting ASE’s expertise around specific energy efficiency initiatives and developing policies.

Specifically, Tempchin will support phase II of ASE’s 50×50 Commission on US Transportation Sector Efficiency. He will explore strategic opportunities around smart communities, improving access for disadvantaged customers, and other issues.

“Rick’s experience and work at EEI have prepared him well for such an exceptional opportunity at the Alliance,” EEI President Tom Kuhn said. “He will work directly with the Alliance team on a range of issues important to our industry and our customers.”

Tempchin has been with EEI since 1987 in a variety of roles. He has worked in state regulatory policy, rate design, electric transportation, demand-side management, building codes, appliance standards, grid modernization, sustainable technology commercialization and customer outreach. He is also a founding board member of The Association of Energy Services Professionals. Before joining EEI, he was a senior utility analyst for Navigant Consulting and a research analyst at the U.S. Department of Energy.
