American Electric Power names new hydroelectric plant manager

American Electric Power (AEP) recently named Robert Gallimore its new hydro plant manager, succeeding Doug Rosenberger, who will now manage the coal-fueled Mitchell Plant in Moundsville, West Virginia.

Gallimore will oversee all operational, performance, regulatory, financial and safety functions of the company’s 16 hydroelectric and four solar generating facilities. His office is located in Appalachian Power’s downtown Roanoke office. Appalachian Power is a subsidiary of AEP.

“Rob clearly demonstrates an ‘always learning’ mindset in everything he does,” David Hoffman, managing director of AEP field and support services in power generation, said. “Throughout his time at AEP, he has participated in numerous special projects and initiatives both within the company and with the larger industry as a whole. Rob will challenge the entire hydro organization to continuously improve and add value to every aspect of their operations.”

Gallimore most recently worked as maintenance superintendent for hydro. He has worked in protection and control for the AEP system and its hydro operations since joining AEP in 1985. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University and an associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering from Shawnee State University. He is a licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
