New resident inspector appointed to Nine Mile Point nuclear power plant

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission selected Jacob Dolecki as a new resident inspector to serve at Exelon Generation Company’s Nine Mile Point nuclear power plant in Scriba, New York.

Dolecki will be one of three resident inspectors at the plant, joining Senior Resident Inspector Eric Miller and Resident Inspector Beth Sienel. All commercial nuclear power plants in the country are required to have at least two NRC resident inspectors to act as go-betweens with the regulatory agency, as well as its eyes on the ground. Resident inspectors can serve at a reactor site for up to seven years.

Dolecki is a relatively new addition to the NRC fold, having begun his career there in 2015 as a reactor engineer. He worked primarily as an operator licensing examiner and contracting officers’ representative. He has also served as an engineer at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, providing support for aircraft carrier and submarine spent nuclear fuel operations.

Dolecki earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, as well as a master’s degree in nuclear engineering, from Pennsylvania State University.
