The Nuclear Energy Institute will appoint a former executive vice president of the global engineering and consulting firm Jensen Hughes to oversee its nuclear operations beginning Sept. 24.

Douglas True is leaving his post as executive vice president of Jensen Hughes’ Power Services Group. He has been a contributor to the NEI for years on technical and regulatory issues, but his main focus was on analysis, testing, design, and research consulting for his company, and through them, the power industry at large.

“Never has the work of NEI been more crucial,” True said. “I look forward to joining a talented team dedicated to ensuring that nuclear energy is recognized for providing fuel diversity, supporting national security, and contributing to the nation’s clean air power. At the core of this effort is a mission to guarantee the country’s nuclear fleet continues to operate safely and efficiently.”

True was hired to replace John Pitesa, who will remain until Dec. 1 to help True transition into the role. Pitesa was a loaned executive, originally brought over from Duke Energy.

True will bring more than 30 years of experience to the role. He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
