Mohammed Ahmed is the newest face on the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), effective this week, as the transmission planning expert has been named executive transmission advisor to the chairman.

Ahmed comes to the organization from American Electric Power (AEP), where he has worked at since 1981. Most recently, he served as their transmission planning manager — the result of more than 35 years of experience in the planning side of transmission and power systems. That experience has taken him as far as the international stage, assisting USAID.

“We are very excited to have such a qualified and nationally respected transmission expert join our team at the PUCO,” Chairman Asim Z. Haque said. “Mohammed will add great value to our already strong siting and forecasting staffs.”

Ahmed is a licensed professional engineer, trained in electrical engineering. He holds both a Bachelors of Science and a Masters in electrical engineering.
