Lightbridge Corporation President and CEO Seth Grae was the keynote speaker at a business leaders event held in Beijing, China, on August 25, that was organized by Lightbridge’s new Co-Chairman Xingping Hou.

“We appreciate the opportunity to meet with business leaders from around China and introduce Lightbridge’s advanced nuclear fuel technology,” Grae said. “China represents a significant market for Lightbridge metallic fuel for deployment in both existing and new-build reactors. According to the most current data compiled by the World Nuclear Association, China represents the largest growth market in the world for nuclear power with 32 nuclear power reactors currently in operation and 22 under construction with more reactors planned representing a three-fold increase in nuclear capacity by 2021. With Mr. Hou’s leadership, we are confident of success across Asia and around the world.”

Lightbridge, a nuclear fuel development company, is working on the development and commercialization of new nuclear technology to improve the affordability and safety of both existing nuclear reactors and new reactors.

Lightbridge also offers a metallic fuel that is 30 percent more robust. Grae said that the fuel could be of particular interest to the Chinese nuclear sector, adding that its use would increase capacity and decrease costs by an estimated 13 percent, translating into $85 billion in total costs savings through 2050.
