The Wyoming Public Service Commission (PSC) recently approved a certificate of public convenience and necessity for Black Hills Corp. to construct a $54 million, 35-mile natural gas pipeline to enhance service for approximately 57,000 customers in central Wyoming.
“This pipeline continues our long-term efforts to enhance reliability across our natural gas pipeline system,” Linn Evans, president and chief operating officer of Black Hills Corp, said. “The pipeline improves access to supply by providing a connection to the Powder River Basin and ensures Black Hills can cost-effectively meet our customers’ long-term needs in the Riverton and Casper areas of Wyoming.”
The 12-inch steel pipeline, known as the Natural Bridge Pipeline, will be constructed from an interconnection supply point near Douglas, Wyoming to existing facilities near Casper, Wyoming. The company’s Wyoming natural gas utility, Black Hills Gas Distribution, LLC, doing business as Black Hills Energy, will construct the pipeline. The pipeline is planned to be in service in late 2019.
