National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) President Nick Wagner recently appointed Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) Chair Jeffrey P. Ackermann as chair of NARUC’s Committee on Energy Resources and the Environment.

Ackermann takes over for Nancy Lange, formerly of the Minnesota Public Service Commission (PSC).

“The Committee on Energy Resources and the Environment has a focus that is very important to me. ERE works to interpret the changing circumstances affecting energy utilities and the implications for continued effective regulation,” Ackermann said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this committee.”

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper appointed Ackermann to a four-year term as chair of the Colorado PUC on Jan. 9, 2017. Before his appointment, Ackermann served as executive director of the Colorado Energy Office. He has more than three decades of experience in state government and the energy sector.

“Chairman Ackermann has the experience, background, and skills to make him an ideal leader of this committee, which serves to educate our members on environmentally sustainable and affordable energy services,” Wagner said.

The NARUC president appoints committee and subcommittee chairs to terms of one year and may re-appoint them for a maximum of three consecutive terms.
