Pacific Power opens grant program to incentivize electric vehicle charging stations

Pacific Power announced Tuesday a new grant program that will fund up to 100 percent of associated costs for applicants in Oregon, Washington, and California in an effort to make electric vehicle charging stations more attractive to potential purchases

Applicants must be non-residential, such as businesses, multi-unit housing owners and community car-sharing programs. Applications must be submitted by Feb. 15, 2019. Recipients will be announced in March, with applicants able to receive up to $1.45 million if they are in Oregon; $900,000 in Washington; and $200,000 in California.

“As an active member in the communities we serve, Pacific Power wants to help our customers achieve their sustainable energy goals,” Cory Scott, director of Pacific Power customer solutions, said. “The electric vehicle charging station grant program is one of the ways we’re empowering local businesses, non-profits and governments to pick up speed toward more charging options for electric vehicle owners.”

Though any non-residential organizations can apply, Pacific Power will give preference to community-driven organizations. Non-profits, city, county and regional governments will, therefore, take precedence over traditional businesses.
