Ohio county granted wind farm approval

The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) has cleared the way for Paulding Wind Farm IV to build a wind energy generating facility in Paulding County, near Payne, Ohio.

The new Timber Road IV Wind Farm would include up to 37 wind turbines with a total generating capacity of up to 125.1 megawatts (MW). Electricity produced by each turbine will be transferred to underground electric collection lines to a collection substation that will connect to the regional transmission grid.

The construction effort, which will also include approximately 17 miles of access roads to be constructed to support the facility, is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2019, per Paulding Wind Farm IV, LLC officials. They anticipate that the wind farm will be placed into service during the fourth quarter of 2019.

The OPSB has also authorized AEP Ohio Transmission Company to construct four electric transmission line projects across the state. Also, the board approved a request to increase the planned generating capacity of the Hillcrest Solar Farm in Brown County from 125 MW to 200 MW.

The Ohio Power Siting Board reviews applications for the construction of major utility facilities in Ohio. Together with Ohio’s elected officials, citizen stakeholders, and the energy industry, the board strives to build a strong and competitive foundation for Ohio’s future.
