Emera Maine crews were out restoring power to the Northern and “Down East” regions of Maine on Monday, Feb. 25 as strong winds caused power outages.

As of Feb. 26, Emera Maine had restored service to more than 3,300 customers, primarily in the Bangor area, who had lost power from the strong winds throughout the service territory. Crews were out working the following day looking to restore power to even more affected residents.

Emera Maine crews will also install fault indicators on select overhead lines to help restore service more quickly during outages. Fault indicators give off a flashing light for up to 16 hours after a fault occurs on a line to help crews pinpoint the section of a line where repairs are needed. Emera Maine will add several hundred fault indicators to power lines, including areas where lines enter and exit utility right-of-ways off roadways.

This is just one of several improvements the utility is making to minimize customer outages.

Emera Maine provides electricity to more than 158,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers across 10,400 square miles in five counties in eastern and northern Maine. This includes the Bangor area, as well as Northern Maine and the Down East coastal region.
