Workhorse Group forms partnership with Duke Energy on fleet electrification efforts

Workhorse Group Inc. formed an alliance with Duke Energy last week in an effort to double development action in adopting and scaling fleet electrification for customers.

The alliance, the companies hope, will grant better eFleet solutions that will speed development of EV infrastructure requirements and reduce overall costs of electrification. Commercial and government fleets stand to benefit.

“We are pleased with this significant step in deepening our relationship with Duke Energy,” Workhorse Group CEO Duane Hughes said. “Changing the way the world works requires partnerships and collaboration, as we need teams of people and companies to work together to achieve this goal. We believe this relationship between Workhorse and Duke Energy will allow our current and future commercial and government customers to more readily adapt fleet electrification plans offering a seamless electrification strategy through the Workhorse/Duke Energy partnership that will be second to none when customers are evaluating EV solutions.”

Depot-centric energy management services and battery management are also likely to grow with the alliance. Potential offerings also include single-point management and financing of all Behind the Meter infrastructure that would support depot-wide electrification, as well as vehicle financing and battery management programs, solar and energy storage, and similar distributed energy efforts.
