Long appointed FERC administrative law judge

Judge Jennifer M. Long has been selected as a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Administrative Law Judge, FERC Chairman Norman C. Bay announced on Tuesday.

Long has worked with the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review at the Social Security Administration as an administrative law judge (ALJ) for the past four years. Her diverse experience prior to serving with the Social Security Administration includes a position with the District of Columbia Office of Administrative Hearings as a principal administrative law judge, a post on the District of Columbia Rental Housing Commission as a commissioner, and experience at the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas as an arbitrator.

Long holds a certificate of judicial development in administrative law adjudication skills that she received from the National Judicial College in 2011, and a bachelor’s degree from Howard University, which she earned in 1985. Long is also a 1988 alumna of Georgetown University Law Center, and a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

“Judge Long’s extensive experience as an ALJ, mediator and arbitrator will serve the Commission and the public well,” Bay said. “I am pleased to welcome her to our outstanding ALJ team.”
