A survey of customers by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) dubbed CenterPoint Energy the energy utility with the nation’s highest residential customer satisfaction last week.

The ACSI’s Energy Utilities report noted that CenterPoint remained at the top of the category despite nearly every investor-owned utility company experiencing stumbles in customer satisfaction since last year. The average score hovered around 73 out of 100, but CenterPoint, which services Arkansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas, managed to hold at an 80.

“Our goal is to provide our customers with an exceptional experience by investing in technologies that give them useful information and provide them with services that are valuable to them,” Gregg Knight, senior vice president and chief customer officer for CenterPoint Energy, said. “We are also working to expand services that our customers have indicated they would like us to provide.”

Such services include investments in customer service platforms and looking to more creative solutions within that service. Throughout 2018, they added 77,000 new natural gas and electric utility customers.
