Survey results recently published by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) show that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has again claimed a top spot as a desirable place to work within the federal government.
The 2016 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) shows that the NRC rating is above average in a number of key areas of evaluation, including global satisfaction and employee engagement. The NRC’s score for global satisfaction was 71 percent, which sits significantly higher than the government-wide average of 62 percent. Employee engagement received similarly high ratings, scoring a 74 percent, which is 12 percentage points above the government-wide average.
“We continue to meet the challenges facing the agency while maintaining a clear focus on safety and security, and carrying out our core mission of protecting public health and safety,” NRC Chairman Stephen G. Burns said. “I am pleased that the NRC continues to score in the top tiers in most areas, despite a slight decline in other areas. This survey is an important tool in providing useful information to help us continually improve as a place to work.”
Data generated by FEVS seeks to gauge employees’ perception of how their organization rates on metrics connected with high-performing, successful organizations. OPM conducts a new FEVS survey each year, producing information that contributes to the development of an effective workforce.
