Peak Load Management Alliance recognizes Rocky Mountain Power program

The Peak Load Management Alliance recently recognized Rocky Mountain Power’s Cool Keeper program with its Technology Pioneer award for outstanding load management through an innovative approach.

“This is a big honor for the program and we appreciate the 92,000 Utahns that participate in Cool Keeper, which both benefits the environment and helps keep costs down for all customers,” Clay Monroe, Rocky Mountain Power director of customer solutions, said.

The Cool Keeper device is installed outside near a home’s air conditioner unit and is activated on select summer days to help ease demand. Last summer’s activation time averaged around 14 minutes.

Customers who participate in the Cool Keeper program receive a monthly bill credit from May through September that totals $30 each year.

“This award-winning innovation is driven by advanced technology and proactive customer involvement,” Monroe said. “Cool Keeper has been an effective program for using energy more efficiently.”
