Lane appointed chair of WV Public Service Commission

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice appointed Charlotte Lane as the chair of the Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC).

The PSC of West Virginia is charged with ensuring that reasonably priced and reliable utility services are available to all residents of West Virginia. Further, the PSC works to increase business investment, job creation, and retention, as well as the state’s overall economic competitiveness.

Lane formerly worked in the same role. She was chair of the PSC of West Virginia from 1997 to 2001. She has also served as a commissioner for the PSC.

Additionally, Lane has experience in state government. She served as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates on three separate occasions; from 1979 to 1980, from 1990 to 1992, and from 2017 to 2018. She is also the former Commissioner of US International Trade Commission, former president of Charleston rotary and past president of West Virginia Bar Association.

Lane will replace Mike Albert as PSC chair. Albert’s term ends on June 30, 2019, after serving on the commission since February 2007. He had previously been reappointed to two consecutive six-year terms. Albert graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He attended West Virginia University College of Law where he was the Editor in Chief of the West Virginia Law Review and received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence.

The PSC strives to support and promote a utility regulatory and transportation safety environment that balances the interests of all parties and pursues excellence through quality.
