Sims elected to Pinnacle West board of directors

The board of directors of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. recently announced it has elected Paula Sims to a position on the board, effective immediately.

Sims is a former senior executive from Progress Energy, and brings a broad range of expertise to the board from decades of work in the industry. She will also serve on the board of directors for the Arizona Public Service Company, Pinnacle West’s principal subsidiary.

“We are pleased to add the talent and perspective of Paula Sims to the boards,” Pinnacle West Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer Don Brandt said. “Her experience in business development, operations and change management will benefit the company and its customers as we continue to focus on delivering long-term value for all we serve.”

Currently working as a professor of the practice of organizational behavior at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, and as an independent consultant, Sims is highly regarded for her experience and knowledge. Prior to joining the faculty at UNC, she held the position of senior vice president of corporate development and improvement at Progress Energy, a company she held various executive roles with between 1999 and 2012.

With Sims’ election, the Pinnacle West board of directors contains 11 members, 10 of which are independent members.
