Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy recently nominated Katie Dykes to serve as a commissioner of the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).
Dykes has served as the deputy commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection since 2012. In that position, Dykes focused her efforts on bringing the state cheaper, cleaner and more reliable energy sources. Dykes also serves as the chairperson of the board for the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. Additionally, she represents the governor on the board of managers of the New England States Committee on Electricity.
“Katie has dedicated years toward providing strategic direction to Connecticut’s energy policy, and in particular her knowledge of the needs of Connecticut’s energy consumers and utility companies made her a natural fit for this position,” Malloy said. “Over the last several years, my staff and I have had the pleasure of working closely with her on these topics, and I am confident that her passion and expertise will benefit PURA and seamlessly continue its mission.”
PURA operates under the leadership of three commissioners and is charged with regulating the rates and services of the state’s investor-owned electricity, natural gas, water and telecommunication companies and is the franchising authority for Connecticut’s cable television companies.
“In this new role, I look forward to working with other PURA commissioners and staff to advance Connecticut’s nationally recognized energy agenda to bring cheaper, cleaner, and more reliable power to the families and businesses of our state,” Dykes said.
