Solar Alliance Energy Inc. has teamed up with Westpeak Developments to market solar systems to the growing luxury home market in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Solar Alliance has installed more than 2,500 residential solar systems in California and now aims to provide clean distributed, resilient power generation to Canadian homeowners.

“We are building an ecosystem of developers and installers in order to provide a premium solar product to the Vancouver real estate market,” Solar Alliance Chairman and CEO Jason Bak said.

Although customers may believe that solar does not make economic sense given Vancouver’s rainy climate, the cost of solar installations has dropped significantly in recent years.

“Installing solar on your home is the first step towards taking control of your power, reducing the demand for fossil fuels and ensuring a resilient supply of electricity,” Bak said.

Through its partnership with Vancouver-based Westpeak Developments, a full service design-build firm, Solar Alliance will market both residential and commercial solar systems in Canada.

“Solar energy provides clean, renewable electricity at a reasonable cost and when coupled with battery storage, ensures resiliency during power outages,” Westpeak Developments owner and founder Sean Stofer said.

Solar Alliance’s reach into Vancouver is part of the company’s overarching expansion strategy that also includes opening a new office in Denver, Colorado, and Riverside County, California. The company also launched a commercial and industrial solar division this summer.
