Utility works to keep Texas communities connected

Entergy Texas officials said the utility has worked to enhance customer service during the summer’s searing heat, particularly within communities like Shenandoah, which has experienced several outages.

While some outages in the City of Shenandoah were due to vegetation contacting the lines or the public causing damage, such as poles dug into or car crashes, other outages were system issues where equipment failed.

Entergy officials said the utility is now undertaking a multi-pronged approach to improving reliability now on the heels of a detailed inspection of equipment across the Shenandoah Valley.

The initiative includes rebuilding existing lines involving about half a mile of major power lines stretching from Holly Hill Drive to Driftwood Lane. The line is considered the trunk of the system that feeds power to the homes and businesses throughout the area; improving service across neighborhoods by replacing poles, transformers and other equipment across the Shenandoah area, in addition to installing newer, more modern equipment to help better manage power flow in the area; and modernizing technology by deploying new, advanced technology to better serve customers – using tools to better monitor equipment and respond to outages more quickly while preventing problems before they affect customers.
