David Ober was recently appointed to the board of directors of the National Regulatory Research Institute (NRRI), the research arm for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.
Ober currently serves as the commissioner of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. NRRI’s mission is to produce research for NARUC members.
Ober recently served in the Indiana House of Representatives. In the House, he was a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Further, from 2014 to 2016 he was the majority whip for the House Republican Caucus, and from 2016 to 2018, he served as chairman of the Indiana House Committee on Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications.
“The work that NRRI is doing is critical to regulatory agencies across the country as they address the many issues facing the industry,” Ober said. “I’m thrilled to lend my support to the institute as a board member.”
Ober is a member of the NARUC Committee on Water and the Mid-America Regulatory Conference.
“Commissioner Ober has a clear understanding of NRRI’s strategic goals and the value of research-driven analyses for state regulators,” NRRI Board Chair ToNola Brown-Bland, commissioner for the North Carolina Utilities Commission, said. “His leadership experience and other utility-related memberships make him an excellent addition to our board.”
