Evergy to install solar array in West Plains, Missouri

Evergy has struck a deal to build a new solar array in West Plains, Mo.

The new solar installation will generate 9.6 megawatts of energy, which is enough to power 1,200 homes.

“Evergy is excited to share our renewable energy expertise as part of our community-based solar partnership with the City of West Plains,” Lloyd Jackson, managing director of Evergy Energy Partners, said. “The solar array will provide affordable green energy to the community for many years to come.”

Evergy Energy Partners, a division of Evergy, has significant experienced in developing renewable energy generation to serve public utilities and local governments. The company recently completed a solar project in Baldwin City, Kan., and now provides solar power to homes in that community.

“We are excited to add solar to the energy sources that power our community. The solar project with Evergy will give us an opportunity to provide education opportunities about renewable energy and provide rate stability for the future,” Jeff Hanshaw, City of West Plains public works director, said.

The announcement comes as the City of West Plains celebrates Public Power Week.

Evergy, which is based in Kansas City, Mo., serves approximately 1.6 million customers in Kansas and Missouri. Evergy offers energy management solutions, asset optimization, risk management and advisory services, and renewable energy options to utilities, large industrial customers, and independent power producers.
