Indiana Michigan Power proposes electric transmission routes in east-central Indiana
Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) last week proposed new routes for electric transmission lines in east-central Indiana’s Hartford City Area Improvements project.
Some would be rerouted, along with the removal of old transmission lines. A new substation would also be added. Slated to begin work in 2022 and finished by summer 2022, around $21 million would be invested into the area to upgrade around four miles of 34.5-kilovolt transmission lines, rebuild eight miles of 69-kV lines and create the new substation.
The changes are focused on enhancing reliability. The new routes stemmed from input provided by the community and residents following the project’s announcement last year.
Going forward, I&M will communicate with affected landowners through their right-of-way agent, O.R. Colan. Together, they will address preliminary fieldwork, as well as the acquisition of the property easements that would allow them to build, operate and maintain the proposed lines effectively.
