PPL Electric offers program to help low-income customers pay bills
PPL Electric Utilities has launched a program that will help customers who are struggling to meet their electric bills.
Through its OnTrack program, the company, which provides energy to residents of Kentucky and Pennsylvania, can reduce customers’ monthly payments for those who qualify.
Through the program, PPL will forgive the difference between your actual bill and your lower fixed OnTrack amount. So, if the bill is $200 and the OnTrack payment is $120, then the customer gets a credit of $80. To qualify, the maximum annual income for a household of five is $45,255.
“There are nearly 64,000 customers currently enrolled in OnTrack, but we know there are many more out there who have not applied for one reason or another,” Melinda Stumpf, manager, Regulatory Programs and Business Services at PPL, said. “We’re here to help. OnTrack reduces monthly payments and can help at-risk customers from accumulating an overdue balance.”
PPL has other energy saving programs as well, including LIHEAP, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. This is a federally funded program that provides cash grants to pay electric or heating bills in emergencies. LIHEAP is available now through April.
