Exelon Corporation recently partnered with Adapt2 Solutions to update its back-office system across all North American independent system operator (ISO) markets.

Exelon will replace its back-office settlement system with Adapt2’s Bid-to-Bill (B2B) software on Microsoft Azure’s cloud. The software will enable expedited settlement processes and help Exelon remain up to date with market changes across ISOs, Adapt2 Solutions said.

“Looking to the future, it is critical for us to differentiate our business with product innovation and diversification,” James Johnston, director of wholesale operations at Exelon, said. “Ease of use and a repository of all of our data that we can quickly access in real-time were key factors in our decision to work with Adapt2 Solutions. We look forward to growing our business with technology solutions that can scale as rapidly as our business strategy necessitates.”

Exelon’s wholesale operations will be fully implemented onto the platform across all North American ISOs by Q2 2020. PJM Interconnection, Midcontinent Independent System Operator, and ISO New England are scheduled to go live in Q1 2020.

“Today’s energy companies need the speed and flexibility that cloud-native technology provides to fully leverage the massive amounts of data available to them,” Jason Kram, Adapt2 Solutions’ executive vice president, said. “In a rapidly-changing market, the energy wholesalers who succeed are the ones that can access their data to make smart business decisions by leveraging artificial intelligence – whether front or back office. We are proud to work with Exelon as they prepare for a digitally transformed future.”
