The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is seeking a qualified candidate to appoint to the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS), a group that provides independent technical reviews and advice regarding the safety of 99 U.S. nuclear power plants.

The committee also advises the commission on health physics and radiation protection issues as well as the adequacy of proposed reactor safety standards. The ACRS is responsible for renewing licenses, power up-rates, the use of mixed oxide, risk informed and performance-based regulations as well as the use of high burn up fuels.

Ideally, the commission is seeking an individual who has 20 or more years experience in nuclear power plant risk assessment and risk management. Individuals best qualified for the position will also have a distinguished record of achievement in one or more areas of nuclear technology and science or another related engineering discipline.

The NRC will be accepting resumes until the end of the year for the position.
