Indiana Michigan Power announces $292M electric transmission system upgrade project
Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) announced on Tuesday a $292 million upgrade to its electric transmission system to improve service for its customers in northeast Indiana.
The Fort Wayne-Richmond Transmission Line Rebuild Project will involve upgrading approximately 140 miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line as well as two substations.
I&M noted that it plans to rebuild the transmission line in the existing right-of-way but may need to acquire new easements or supplement current easements to ensure safe construction, operation, and maintenance of the line.
Throughout the process, I&M representatives will communicate directly with affected landowners and residents about project updates, the company said.
I&M expects construction to begin in summer 2021 and conclude in late 2025.
