For the second straight year, Entergy Arkansas will cut its rates by nearly 4 percent, knocking another $4.10 off its average residential customer’s monthly bills.

This is part of an annual fuel and purchased power cost adjustment filed each spring with the Arkansas Public Service Commission, and helps the utility’s charges to better reflect a lower fuel rate, congestion relief brought on by transmission upgrades and performance-improving projects at one of Entergy Arkansas’ nuclear plants. The cost adjustment is also how Entergy Arkansas recovers its costs of fuel used in power plants and power purchased from other sources. Last year, it included a similar reduction of $4.20 for the average customer.

“We know that every little bit helps, and we’re pleased that our fuel rate is decreasing again this year,” Laura Landreaux, Entergy Arkansas President and CEO, said. “It can mean a lot for many of our customers, especially those living paycheck to paycheck. That’s why we strive to make sound investments that improve reliability and why we work to drive overall costs down.”

These changes will apply to the approximately 700,000 customers spread across the Entergy Arkansas service area.
