National Grid Renewables sold the Springfield Solar project in Dodge County, Wisc., to Alliant Energy.
Springfield Solar is a planned 100 megawatt (MW) solar energy project that is part of Alliant Energy’s plan to build more than 1,000 MW of solar projects in Wisconsin by 2023. The 100 MW Springfield Solar will have a footprint of 800 acres in the Town of Lomira.
“We are excited to add the Springfield Solar project to our renewable energy portfolio. Guided by our purpose-driven strategy to serve customers and build stronger communities, this project represents continued investment where we have long-standing partnerships with local businesses and community leaders. We are proud to be delivering cleaner energy while investing in the local communities we are so privileged to serve,” Ben Lipari, director of resource development at Alliant Energy, said.
Construction is expected to get underway in 2022, with anticipated completion in late 2023.
“National Grid Renewables is proud to partner with Alliant Energy on a second Wisconsin solar project,” David Reamer, head of development, U.S. Onshore Renewables for National Grid Renewables, said. “Springfield Solar offers valuable benefits to the Dodge County community, including the creation of new tax revenue and jobs, as well as a charitable fund estimated at $400,000 over the first 20 years of project operation.”
