All Points Broadband received $1.5 million in federal funding to construct the first phase of a planned fiber-to-the-home network in King William County, Virginia.

Further, All Points entered into a related agreement to deliver broadband access to currently unserved locations in the county.

“Today’s announcement is another milestone in our ongoing effort to help extend broadband access to unserved Virginians,” Ed Baine, president of Dominion Energy Virginia, said. “We are committed to improving the quality of life and economic prosperity in the communities we serve and are excited to add another County and more unserved areas to our growing partnership with All Points.”

All Points and Dominion Energy will work together to finalize a network plan under the agreement. The plan will be submitted to the State Corporation Commission for approval.

“Last September, King William engaged All Points as its broadband deployment partner with a mandate to make real progress,” Jimmy Carr, CEO of All Points, said. “In less than 5 months, we have developed network plans and secured federal funding to extend fiber-to-the-home broadband to the 900 homes and businesses in the first phase of our plan for King William. Over the next few months, we plan to engage additional partners to help expand our project footprint.”

“Ensuring that all of our citizens have access to high quality broadband is a critical priority for King William County,” District 5 Supervisor Ed Moren, who is also Chairman of the King William Internet Connectivity Initiative, said. “We are elated that our work with All Points is moving us closer to universal broadband and thankful for Dominion Energy Virginia’s support for this important project. Our hard work and perseverance is beginning to pay off.”
