Entergy Mississippi finishes $31M transmission reliability project for City of Jackson

Entergy Mississippi completed work on a $31 million transmission system project this week in Jackson, Mississippi, concluding a year of work on a new substation, lines, and other infrastructure.

“The new Mill Street substation and supporting infrastructure upgrades provide an additional source of power into the City of Jackson and supports the expanding Fondren community and Jackson medical corridor, including UMMC and Children’s Hospital,” Haley Fisackerly, Entergy Mississippi president and CEO, said. “Our investment enhances grid reliability for the entire metro area and represents our commitment to ensure a strong, modern grid that can support continued growth in our communities.”

Incorporating more modern technology, and in an effort to keep prices reliable, the project reaches from Fondren into the surrounding area, including Northside Drive, Mill Street, and Bailey Avenue. It includes a new substation on Mill Street and a mile of 115 kV transmission line, as well as upgrades to three and a half miles of 115 kV infrastructure connecting the existing Rex Brown substation to the Mill Street substation.
