The Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO) and EDP Renováveis, SA (EDPR) signed a Build and Transfer Agreement this week to create a 200 MWac solar park in Indiana by 2022.

EDPR will hold up its end of the agreement through its fully owned subsidiary EDP Renewables North America LLC. The project, known as Crossroads Solar Park, will grant EDPR 2.5 GW of capacity in the U.S. and add to a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) EDPR announced earlier this month.

That agreement included the sale of energy produced by the 204 MW Indiana Crossroads II Wind project. That project is expected to begin operations in 2023.

Beyond this, EDPR announced this project will contribute to its asset rotation program stretching from 2021 to 2025. Completion of the agreement will be subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
