Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) launched a new training portal to help small business owners adopt sustainable business practices.

This online portal – called Going Green & Going Smart – can be accessed at greenbizaz.com. Small business owners can find several training tools at this portal, including pre-recorded video lessons with sustainability experts, downloadable materials, and knowledge checks. There is also an on-demand certificate program that teaches small business owners how to implement sustainable business practices. Also, participants will be able to access online resources from other statewide sustainability programs and APS Solutions for Business rebate information.

“At APS, we are imagining a world powered by 100% clean energy, and we are committed to doing our part to help small businesses across Arizona,” Stacy Derstine, APS vice president of external affairs, said. “We are excited about the community collaboration that developed this program, and that will bring knowledge and savings to business owners throughout the state.”

With the on-demand certificate program, business owners can learn how to create sustainable business marketing plans, apply for rebates, and gain other valuable knowledge to capture savings while reducing their carbon footprint. It can be done in less than 60 minutes. Upon completion, small business owners will receive a Going Green & Going Smart certificate to display at their businesses or on their websites.

“We see the Going Green & Going Smart program as a great way to help small businesses return from the impacts of COVID-19 stronger and greener than ever,” Ray Brooks, APS strategic partnerships program manager, said. “We are grateful for the expertise provided by Compass CBS to help us inspire small business owners interested in implementing simple and affordable strategies to reduce waste, save money and grow their bottom line.”

APS serves more than 1.3 million homes and businesses in Arizona. It is committed to serving customers with 100 percent clean power by 2050.
